Europe tips from the UK’s top travel bloggers

There are 36 countries within a 3-hour flight of the UK. That’s pretty awesome, but it does make for some tough Europe decisions. Should you enjoy award-winning local wines in a Macedonian homestay, live out your Game of Thrones-inspired dreams in Dubrovnik, or set sail for the endless horizon in Sardinia? It’s a tough decision, especially when there’s currently 15% OFF all our Europe trips (only for residents of UK, Europe and Africa, sorry guys), so we’ve asked the UKs top travel bloggers to name their Europe travel tips for 2016.

Paul Johnson – Editor of A Luxury Travel Blog

“High on my wish list is Iceland. I’ve visited Greenland on a couple of occasions and come close to going to Iceland, but have not yet made it.  I’d love to see the scenery – the glaciers, the geysers, the waterfalls and, of course, the Northern Lights.”

“Russia! The thought of drinking vodka for breakfast, riding the Siberian express and soaking up the incredible architecture of Moscow and St Petersburg make Russia a must-visit destination in my eyes!”

“Vienna – the geographical centre of Europe may have the remnants of its grand Imperial-era at the very core, but it is a city brimming with contemporary flair. Music, art and architecture still dominate, intertwined with bohemian neighbourhoods, hipster coffee shops, swanky bars and bistros and edgy entertainment venues.”

Laurel Robbins – Founder of Monkeys and Mountains

“I’ll be traveling to Slovenia to climb Triglav, the highest mountain in the Julian Alps! I’m doing it because it offers one of the most panoramic views in the entire Alps, stretching several hundred kilometres in all directions!”

“Ukraine – I became a little bit obsessed with Eastern Europe when I bounced around there in 2014, but I never made it over to Ukraine. I’ve heard it’s a crazy country, got great food, and in places like Odessa, surprising beauty too.”

“Next on my European list is the Amalfi Coast in Italy. I’ve visited several major cities in Italy – Milan, Rome, Venice and Florence – but I’d really to visit the coast. The cliff-side village of Positano looks to be a photographer’s dream, while the islands of Capri and Ischia look like a great place for a relaxing break.”

“After an amazing time sailing around Croatia last summer, I’m heading back in June to see more. Beautiful rocky coastline, stunning islands, top quality food and now a tonne of great music festivals make it a really great spot for a summer travels. I can’t wait!”

“Barcelona is next for me, for the 6th time. There’s so much to see there, but the fun and relaxed atmosphere has meant I haven’t managed to explore much beyond Gaudi’s work, and the pintxo bars!”
