Hampi in Karnataka is one of the most welcoming destinations in India, more so for solo women travellers. A place of stunning landscapes and immense archaeological importance, Hampi attracts travellers from all over the world and has a very laidback feel to it. Once here, you can breathe easy, take a bicycle or hop aboard a coracle, go rock climbing, have a leisurely picnic by River Tungabhadra.

Solo women travellers in India are in absolute love with the Northeast, and rightly so. A place of great natural beauty and diverse culture, the seven states make one feel welcome like no other. If a trip to the states has been on your mind, start from Shillong. A city that is also believed to be the most fashionable in the country, this is where you can roam free, enjoy the nightlife, go exploring nature and more.

Arunachal’s Ziro Valley is another gem that is perfect for solo women travellers. More famous for hosting the Ziro Festival of Music every year, it is a nature lover’s paradise. Here, you have the chance of meeting the famous Apatani tribe, staying with them, and experiencing a life that is very different.

If offbeat is not what you are seeking for your next trip as a solo woman traveller, we have the good, old Goa as well. The people here are warm and used to a very cosmopolitan way of life, accepting people of all genders and notions. So yes, as a solo woman in the state, you will not be attracting unwanted attention. Goa is where you unwind, with all the sun, sand and sea that you might have been craving.

Mumbai is another cosmopolitan experience if you wish to delve deeper into the labyrinths of the city that never sleeps. As a solo woman, you can roam around the city, go on drives, explore the interesting nightlife, eat to your heart’s content till late into the night. Our word is that you will feel very safe and welcome in Mumbai, for even the auto rickshaws here never say no to either going to a specific destination or charging by meter readings, as in the case in Delhi (yes, that would burn).
